Southern Caucasian, late 19th or early 20th C., exceptional color and detail. Rare and extremely collectible carpet. The design is what makes it so extremely rare. Indian mythology refers to "Garud", the eagle of heaven, charger of Vishnu and the destroyer of venomous snakes.
"Kazak" refers to carpets made by Cossack nomads who are most likely related to the Cossack tribes of Russia. The name itself is a corruption of the word "Cossack."
